Drama Drinking Game: Hello Monster | Dying For Drama

Annyeong!

I don't know where I got this idea from, but it's happened, so it's now a thing, let's do this.

Basically, the concept is really easy; you watch a drama, and if something happens that's on that drama, you have to drink. I mean, this doesn't necessarily have to be a drinking game, you can transform it into any game you want. For example, it could be a fitness game or just random game where you have dares or something like that. I just like the idea of making it a drinking game.

(I couldn't not add this!)

Take A Sip When...
Lee Hyun talks down to someone (two if it's Cha Ji An).
They visit a crime scene.
Cha Ji An's aunt is featured (two if she's giving Cha Ji An food).

Take 2 Sips When...
There's an obvious moment Lee Hyun could tell Min the truth but doesn't.
Team Leader has absolutely no authority on anyone ever (two if they just act like he isn't there).
The Planning Director is shown (three is she's with Lee Hyun).

Take A Shot When...
Lee Jun Ho is creepy as fuck.
The whole team is struggling over a case.
Cha Ji An's apartment is messy (two if Lee Hyun is there either cooking or cleaning it).
Lee Hyun makes someone angry (two if it's Cha Ji An, three if it's Son Myeong Woo (Sunbae Son).

That's all for this time, it's actually harder than you'd think to come up with these kinds of things! Let me know in the comments if there are any other dramas you'd like me to watch and make drinking games for!

NCT 127 "Firetruck" MV Review | Dying For Drama

Annyeong!

Today I want to talk about the new group (well, I think they're new, I'm so confused about who's coming and going now that I'm kind of like 'meh, fuck it'), NCT 127.

Bit of a backstory to explain what the hell this group is about: the concept of NCT is that it's a group with an unlimited number of members, divided into multiple sub-units based in different cities worldwide (if you ask me this is going to get more and more complicated, I can feel it coming!).
So far there are two Seoul-based units; the six-membered NCT U and the seven-membered NCT 127.

NCT U debuted in April this year with 'The 7th Sense' (the one that brought this group to my attention) and 'Without You'. They're the main unit of the group.
NCT 127 also debuted in April this year with Firetruck (the song I'm going to be reviewing).
There's a unit that's scheduled for Tokyo, Beijing, and Shanghai. (Thank you Wikipedia, I owe you one).

They came to my attention, I can't remember how, or when, for that matter, but it was with the "The 7th Sense". I'd heard on Twitter about NCT 127, and decided to have a listen to 'Firetruck'.

Anyway! I'm getting so bloody sidetracked; I listened to their song and wanted to share my thoughts on this about what I thought about it.

As usual, I'm going to start with the song (and pretend I know anything about music other than "it sounds good").

The song is good, very catchy and I really like it, I really like the drums and how they mix the melody.
Though I have to say that at times they do sound like they've been kicked in the balls.

I have nothing more to say about the song, to be honest. It's good, and I like it, but it's nothing special.

On to the MV, it's basically a mix between a story of a girl growing up and them dancing. The choreo's very good, though, I really like the way it works with the music.

However, if I've said it once, I've said it a million times - K-Pop MV directors, PLEASE STOP THE JUMP CUTS AND THE LIGHTS! It's enough to give you an epileptic fit!! It's unnecessary and doesn't make the video look any better.

Another thing - I have a theory about this MV; the stylist and the director did LSD before shooting. Just throwing that out there.

On a whole, this is a pretty good MV, nothing "omfg what that's so cool what this is amazing", but it's not as bad as some things.

I'm going to give Firetruck 3 kimchis out of 5.

What do you think of this group/concept? Let me know in the comments and we can chat. And, as always, if there's any specific reviews or posts you'd like me to do, then comment or DM me and your wish shall be my command.

The Wonders That Are: K-Pop Groups | Dying For Drama

Annyeong!

When I first started getting into k-pop, one thing that confused me the most is the whole “positions” thing. It confused me profoundly for a while until my friend finally explained it to me, so I thought I would help some of the k-pop newbs (is that a word?) who are just as confused as I once was.
I’m going to take you guys through the various positions members of a k-pop group occupy.

Leader
The leader of a group, in my head, is defined as “the middle man between the group and the management”. I mean, that’s not all they are, but it’s basically the biggest part of their job is to receive direction from the manager or the label and relay that to the group seeing as they are closer to the group than the manager or the label is.
The leader is generally the eldest or one of the eldest in the group. They need to be mature and need to be able to be respected and get taken seriously by the group (though that doesn’t always happen - looking at you Sunggyu and Suho!).

Maknae
From the eldest to the youngest, the maknae is the youngest member of the group. That’s literally it. They’re the youngest. They generally are the “cutie” of the group and is pretty much entirely responsible for the aegyo in the group - though there are some groups *looks emphatically at BTS* where they don’t need just the maknae to do aegyo!

Visual/Face Of The Group
I mean, you don’t really need my to explain this, right? It’s pretty self-explanatory, really. This is the member who’s considered the best looking or the most popular looks-wise. Also, I haven’t seen this anywhere but it’s pretty obvious, it’s also the sexiest member too.

Lead Dancer/Lead Singer
The best dancer and singer in the group. Lead dancers pull off all the best moves and generally will also do stunts like the backflips and that kind of thing. Lead singers generally do most of the singing and get the big responsibility of doing the all important “high notes” that k-pop groups bloody well love.

4D Member
This is basically just the one who doesn’t necessarily seem quite… normal. They’re basically in their own world and you don’t really dare question it (for reference see T.O.P (BigBang), Yesung (Super Junior) and Onew (SHINee)). Despite their oddness, they’re generally rather loveable and always bring light in even the most serious moments.

I think that pretty much covers the basics, though for most groups members will have different positions at the same time. There are other types of positions but they're not quite as "official" but if you guys would like to do a post on them then let me know and your wish shall be my command. *waves magic wand excitedly*

Are there any other positions that I’ve missed? Let me know in the comments.

Favourite Comebacks So Far - 6 Months In | Dying For Drama

Annyeong!

I am very bad and have been terrible with posting at the moment, and even though I wanted to get this up in June, that didn't happen *sob* so let's just pretend it's still June, okay?

I kind of regret starting this, and now I'm going to have to do it in December again, don't I? Lovely. Have fun.

January
4Minute - Hate

I CAN'T BELIEVE THEY'RE NOT TOGETHER ANYMORE!! *goes to sob in a corner* the last ever comeback by 4Minute. Very sad, but very good. I think this was my first comeback too *sobs even more*.

Teen Top - Warning Sign

I'd been told off many times by my friend Gaƫlle for not listening to Teen Top, so I jumped at the chance to when I saw that they had had their comeback, so I had a listen to a couple of their songs and I really enjoyed them, but seeing as this is the comeback for this year so this is kind of the only relevant one.

Dal Shabet - Someone Like U

I had heard this... somewhere. Anyway, it's got a nice groovy beat to it that doesn't sound quite as generic as most of these kinds of songs do.

February
WINNER - SENTIMENTAL

I rather like this song, despite the fact that the MV makes my head hurt. Like the harmonies and the way they've layered the voices. I think I'm going to rather like WINNER, their voices complement each other which is refreshing nowadays.

March/April
HISTORY - Queen

Love the beat and the instrumental side to this! A very refreshing song too, it doesn't sound like anything else I've listened to before.

Block B - Toy

I've already expressed my thoughts and love for "Toy" in the review I did that you can check out here. Very good, well done, Block B.

TWICE - Cheer Up

I love TWICE. They're one of the few recent girl groups I don't want to punch and tell them to toughen up and stop with the constant aegyo. Cheer Up is good. I don't quite know what it is that makes me like it so much but I do so there we are. Though it has the gift of getting stuck in my head for days on end, but hey ho.

BTS - Forever Young

Again, going to be a lazy shit and forfeit having to talk about this because I've already said them in the review. So enjoy that here

May
May was a slow month for comebacks...
BTS - FIRE

FIRE is... Well, it's perfection. It's everything you could want from a BTS song and MV. It's fun and lively, and you can almost feel their spirit ooze out of it and... ugh, I just love it so much. Plus, the choreo is fucking divine. It's like chocolate for your eyes. Smooth but crisp at the same time and the boys... well... hats off to them, because that choreo is fucking hard (I speak from experience) and they hit every move like champions and I'm so fucking proud of them for that.

Juin
U-KISS - Stalker

I accept the fact that this is a seriously generic k-pop song but I like it so tough, go ahead, judge me, I dare you.

EXO - Monster

Again! I feel like I'm totally slacking off for this post but I've already reviewed it so go and check that out because I have a lot of thoughts on this comeback - you can read that here, how lovely.

Honorable Mentions
These are typically songs that I like but not enough to consider a "favorite", and if not then they have a specific quality that made me think that they're not that bad.

Rainbow - Whoo

I'm not going to let myself like this song properly because it's such a terrible song on paper that I'd no longer have any self-respect so it got relegated to honorable mentions.
In all seriousness, I just don't like it enough for it to have made the actual list, but enough to jump around my apartment dancing along because I'm trying to get myself into a good mood.

Taemin - Press Your Number

I feel like every single k-popper on earth is madly in love with Taemin. I really don't get the attraction but oh well. Anyway, this is the most white-washed-America-influenced song I've heard in a long time but I quite like to coolness it has to it so that's totally saved it in my opinion. A bit overdramatic, though.

Taemin - Drip Drop

Again, I swear I've heard the English version of this song on the radio. Anyway, I think Taemin has something magical in his voice that makes anything he sings immediately attractive to me because I rather like this song too. Though can someone fire whoever dressed him for the MV? He looks bloody ridiculous.

Eric Nam - Interview

Is it bad that I didn't know that Eric Nam was a singer and thought he was just an interviewer/public figure?

Oh My Girl - Liar Liar

Despite the fact that they irritate me, the song is pretty catchy which makes up for it.

BTOB - Remember That

What is it with every single once hip-hop group going into ballads?! Block B, BTOB, iKON - what's happening?! Anyway, the chorus is really good, it's just the verses that let it down.

Block B - A Few Years Later

Like 'Toy', I did a review of this here, but basically, despite the fact that I'm not totally in love with this song, it's really beautiful and thought it deserved a little word.

SEVENTEEN - Love Letter

I just liked the beat of this song.

iKON - #WYD

Again, it's a sweet song but a bit too ballad-ey for my tastes still. Plus, even though the MV is impossibly cliche, it's pretty adorable so there's that.

CLC - No Oh Oh

See 'Liar Liar - Oh My Girl' (my opinion is basically the same for most of girl group songs!)

ASTRO - Breathless

I'm not the biggest fan of ASTRO, their music is a bit too cutesy for my tastes, but, like Infinite, the group in themselves, as people, I really like. I watched the MV and found it totally hilarious and I thought it was worth a mention here. I don't really like the song but the MV makes up for it entirely.

BTS - SAVE ME

I was super pumped when this MV came out. After FIRE, I was expecting something massive and epic, but as it turns out it wasn't quite as epic as that. I love the song, even though it's totally unlike anything else BTS has previously done.

Bloody hell! That was rather long, wasn't it! What were your favorite comebacks of this year? What comebacks are you looking forward to most?
