BTS "Forever Young" MV Review | Dying For Drama

Annyeong!

A lot of reviews recently, huh? I mean, I guess it was pretty much a given that I this post was coming, right?

I was pratically wetting myself with excitement when I saw this appear on my Facebook timeline. What?! A new BTS MV?! SINCE WHEN?! I WASN'T INFORMED OF THIS!!

Let's talk about the song first. It's a totally different vibe than I'm used to with BTS and it took me a couple of listens for me to decide if I like it or not. It's not my favourite BTS song, but it's nice. The vocals are on point, the rapping too, as were the harmonies. It's quite catchy, but a bit slow for my taste.

After taking a step back and listening to some of BTS' earlier stuff, I do agree with what some A.R.M.Ys where saying, about they have significantly changed in recent times. In a way, I kind of miss their earlier, more hip-hop stuff, but I do like this new, softer stuff they're bringing out too.
I do feel, though, that because of their changes in their concept, they've lost their originality, since I don't hear that many groups doing that tough, hip-hop stuff that they used to do. Either way, I'm a fan of both.

The MV (watch it here) is really unusual. Like the song it took me a few watches to properly get an opinion on it. First things first, something that immediately struck me and that I want to address - V IS BLONDE. WHAT. I don't know if I like it or not.
So from the beginning, you see small clips of the I NEED U, Run and the prologue videos. You also see all of the boys separately (all looking gorgeous as usual) in this kind of weird caged off area that, from re-watching the MV, looks like a maze that they're all stuck in. They're all running, looking alarmed for some reason, and my theory is that they're all trying to find one another. All that mixed in with clips of the 3 previous MVs (I NEED U, Run and the prologue). It's in an odd quality and it's almost like watching old home movies.
One thing that I don't like is their clothes. I mean look at Jungkook's shirt - who wears that?!

Now I have a theory about this MV. I think it has a link to the 3 other videos. My theory is that everyone dies at the end, so that brings me on to this MV - I think that's them in heaven, trying to all reunite. Since it's kind of all white, and blue skies and it just looks like heaven to me. Then they reunite and go and run into the sunset, whoopy-do.

And we were also graced with these beautiful faces on their facebook page:

There are more on their Facebook and Instagram but I just chose my favourites.

I'd give this MV 4 kimchis out of 5.

What did you think of the song and the MV? Do you agree with my theory? Also, what do you think about the new looks of the boys? Do you like them or did you prefer before?

Block B "Blooming Period" EP Review | Dying For Drama

Annyeong!

I was fishing around for when my favourite groups were going to be releasing their comebacks this year, and I was pleasantly surprised to find out that Block B had already released their EP "Blooming Period", on learning this, I decided to have a listen.

The EP contains 6 songs in this order:
  • A Few Years Later
  • Toy (which is the title song)
  • It Was Love (by Taeil)
  • Walkin' In The Rain
  • Bingle Bingle (by B-BOMB and U-KWON)
  • A Few Years Later (instrumental version)
I'll start from the beginning, shall I?

- I really enjoyed "A Few Years Later". It's a perfect mix between ballad (which is a style I'm usually not attracted to in the slightest so I surprised myself there) and rap.
- "Toy" is super catchy. It has a really nice beat to it that. Again, it has the perfect mix of a soft, ballad-like melody and rap on top which creates a clash that works perfectly together.
- "It Was Love" is pretty good...but I can't say much more. I love Taeil and I think he has a really beautiful voice, but the song in itself for me was a bit too slow and sad. Though it is beautiful, don't get me wrong. It may grow on me the more I listen to it, since it sounds like one of those songs.
- "Walkin' In The Rain" is okay. It's nothing exceptional, and it's not the best I've heard from Block B, in my opinion. I mean, it's a good song, but nothing quite "wow!", you know?
- I enjoyed "Bingle Bingle", though (which I maintain is such a weird name for a song and makes me chuckle every time I write it). It has a nice vibe to it and I really like that it's a bit more hip-hop than the rest of the album.
- I don't quite understand why they thought it was necessary to put in the instrumental version of "A Few Years Later" but if that floats their boat.

I enjoyed this EP. It's not spectacular-blowyoursocksoff-amazing but it's nice to listen to. I was taken aback a bit however, since I'm not used to this side of Block B - I'm more of a fan of their NalinA, Nillili Mambo-era when they were a more tough and rap/hiphop centered. Either way, good job, Block B, this one's a good'un.

I'd give this EP 3.5 kimchis out of 5.

What did you guys think of this EP? Let me know in the comments!

The K-Pop Tag | Dying For Drama

Annyeong!

I thought it may be easy to introduce myself with a lil' tag so that you guys can find out about my tastes in k-pop and dramas, so here's 21 Korea related questions!

Top left to bottom right

1. Favourite solo artist?
That's a hard one... I have mostly G-Dragon in my phone so I think I'm going to go with him.

2. Top 5 favourite boy groups?
BTS, Block B, VIXX, BTOB, and EXO.

3. Top 5 favourite girl groups?
4Minute, Red Velvet, Mamamoo, 2NE1, and Twice

4. What fandom(s) do you identify with?
A.R.M.Y.

5. How did you get into k-pop?
My friends were listening to stuff like BTS, Sistar, B.A.P and other groups I don't know and I became intrigued so they took me under their wing and I'm now obsessed!

6. Do you know how to speak Korean?
I know a few words and phrases but I couldn't hold a conversation! I'd love to learn one day, though.

Nope, sadly, though I'm hoping to see BTS if they come to France this year!

8. Do you watch variety shows?
Only Weekly Idol - I looove Weekly Idol haha.

9. Top 3 biases?
Jungkook of BTS, Ilhoon of BTOB and Taeil of Block B. So much beauty! And as an honorable mention (because he's not quite a bias but I really like him) is Suga of BTS.

10. A k-pop group you simply can't bring yourself to listen to?
It's not a group but more a concept - I can't deal with really cute concepts in girl groups! Lovelyz, GFriend, Strawberry Milk - I just can't listen to them! Though for some reason I actually like Girl's Generation, notably "Gee" and "I Gotta Boy".

11. Do you listen to solo artists or groups more?
Groupes, without a doubt.

12. What has been your favourite comeback of the year?
None of the groups that I like and listen to have had a comeback in 2016 but I am looking forward

Jungkook of BTS :3

14. In terms of looks, which group is the best?
I'm sorry to keep going on about it but BTS or EXO.

15. In terms of songs, which group is the best?
Block B. I'm not kidding, I like every song I listen to of them!

16. What was the first drama you ever watched?
"I Remember You". Can we take a moment to appreciate Seo In Guk? So much beauty in one human! *faints*

17. Do you read mangas/watch anime?
Nope, I've never really been able to get into either.

18. What is your favourite drama?
I'd have to say either "I Remember You" or "Madame Antoine".

19. Favourite concept?
For guy groups, I'd say hiphop, and for girl groups, sexy, generally, though there are exceptions.

Yes! It's on my bucket list that once I've got a job I'm going to put some money to one side and go there.

21. Have you ever been before?
Nope.

22. Favourite Korean film?
Twenty! That film is so impossibly funny and I cry laughing at it no matter how many times I watch it!

Go ahead and answer some of the questions in the comments, then we can have a lil' chat about k-pop and I can feel less alone haha!

Top 3 Dramas For Beginners | Dying For Drama

Annyeong!

I’ve been watching dramas for about 4 months, but I’ve been ploughing through them like there’s no tomorrow! So I wanted to share my top 3 dramas for people who are just starting out with dramas.

I Remember You

This was my very first drama, so it has a very special place in my heart. I recently re-watched it and fell totally in love with it all over again! Every episode makes you want to know more which is basically why I got through it so fast. It’s about a police officer who’s in the Special Task Force called Cha Ji An, who goes to a crime scene only to find her childhood crush, Lee Hyeon, standing in front of her. Together, they end up working together to solve a case of a serial killer, but in doing so, you take a look back at Ji An and Lee Hyeon’s childhood.

Moorim School

This is a more recent find of mine, that only recently started airing. It’s about an idol, Yoon Shi Woo, who suffers from terrible migraines that stop him from working, and Wang Chi Ang, the illegitimate son of a wealthy chinese businessman. They both, in their own way, discover and are forced to enroll at Moorim School, a mysterious school in the middle of the woods, on a mountain, no less that teaches martial arts. Can Chi Ang and Shi Woo manage in this strange new school? I kind of fell in and out then back in love with this drama. I enjoyed it for the first 7 or 8 episodes, but I kind of lost interest. I almost forced myself to finish it because even though I wasn’t totally gripped, I was still curious to find out what was going to happen to everyone.

Madame Antoine

This is the drama I am currently watching and I’m totally obsessed with! The whole story starts off when a renound psychotherapist, Choi Soo Hyun, starts up a psychotherapy clinic right above the cafĂ© “Madame Antoine”, run by Go Hye Rim, a fortuneteller. Soo Hyun decides to start an experiment, using Hye Rim as the subject, to find her ideal man. He sets his assistant, a young genuis, his younger brother, a retired professional athlete, and himself, as potential suiters for Hye Rim. That’s all I can say really without giving everything away. Personally I’m really interested in psychology and that kind of thing so this was right up my street and I’m totally addicted!

What dramas would you recommend to someone who is just starting to watch dramas?
